What I learned this awsome summer with my awesome teacher Ms.Krissy

This summer 2011 i learned many things from Ms.Krissy. I learned how to debate and I even heard the latest news which I usually don't look into so clearly. In this summer I had lots of fun with debating with everyone, but sadly half our class is gone and hopefully we'll all see each other next year in advanced debate and have another year of fun with you Ms.Krissy.In this wonderful year of my first time in debate I found out that Ms.Krissy really likes Monster and Del taco, and this year I learned how to do speeches a lot better and speak out in front of much more people without being afraid. Also this year I met more people to talk with such as Cindy,Ashley,Sarah,Johnny,Timothy,Bryan, and most of all the person who brought us together and made everyone laugh :) Ms.Krissy. I am very thankful for all the fun times we've had together, and I hope I can meet you next year, and have another awesome/great summer with you again. :) I love you Ms.Krissy I will miss you bunches. ;(

Week 10: THE FINAL BLOG!!!: What I learned from the incredible Ms. Krissy

I am so sorry that I was not here for Week 8 and 9... I missed so much important news and debates from this class just missing out on two weeks! :( Starting from Week 1 to Week 7, I have learned about the different positions and places a debater can have in a debate, such as the prime minister and much more. I also learned about how to speak louder and with more confidence with improving skills on debate too. :) I learned lot and lots about what the world is suffering such as the debt sealing or something scary, such as a super big freeway closing down. This has helped me a lot and even though I will not be coming for the fall, I hope that I will get to join next year.I hope that I will come to Week 10... does anyone want me to bring something specific for the party??? I really do not know what to bring. Thank You!

Truly Special :)

I just wanted you all to know... that you guys really are very special. As I sit down to do final grades and comments, I can't help but think how quickly our summer went. Although some of you are already gone and the rest of you I will still see, I really am sad that our summer has come to an end. It has been so wonderful to get to know each and every one of you and get to watch you grow. You have all improved your ability to speak, I have seen your personalities shine, you have become better listeners, and most importantly more aware of the world around you. I feel truly lucky to have had such a wonderful class! So whatever you may do, I am glad that each of you crossed my path and I wish you all the best!

:)

What I've learned

OMG! It's already week 10!!!!!!!!!! So I took this class and now, after then 10 days, I've learned absolutely nothing(JK). So I've learned how to make better speeches and how to make better arguments in my debates. I've also learned humorous phrases and really funny but pointless stories. I've also learned how crazy teens can get. This was a really awesome class. Have fun with the party people!

Obama Goes On The Offensive In Michigan: Republicans Are Playing Politics At The Country's Expense

In Michigan today, an impassioned President Obama accused Republicans in Congress of trying to score political points “at the expense of our country” and said that the “constant bickering” in Washington was partly to blame for the nation’s slow economic recovery.

“There is nothing wrong with our country. There is something wrong with our politics,” Obama told workers at the Johnson Control Inc. advanced battery factory in Holland, Mich.

In the aftermath of the debt debate, the president told Americans that he shares their frustrations with the partisan gridlock in Washington.

“What we've seen in Washington the last few months has been the worst kind of partisanship, the worst kind of gridlock, and that gridlock has undermined public confidence and impeded our efforts to take the steps we need for our economy,” he said. “There are things we have to do to erase a legacy of debt that hangs over the economy. But time and again we've seen partisan brinksmanship get in the way, as if winning the next election is more important than fulfilling our responsibilities to you and to our country.”

Once again, Obama called on Congress to pass stalled measures that he said would help create jobs immediately, including investing in infrastructure, extending the payroll tax cuts and reforming the patent system.

“The only thing keeping us back is our politics. The only thing preventing these bills from being passed is the refusal of some folks in Congress to put country ahead of party. There are some in Congress

right now who would rather see their opponents lose than see America win, and that has to stop. It's got to stop,” he said.

But Obama admitted that “given the weakness of the economy, we need to do even more” and said that he is prepared to offer up additional proposals of his own to spur job growth and boost the economy.

“Over the coming weeks, I'm going to be putting out more proposals, week by week, that will help businesses hire and put people back to work. And I'm going to keep at it until every single American who wants a job can find one,” he announced.

Again, the president called for a long-term plan to reduce the deficit and reiterated that both parties have to be willing to compromise. “Everybody's got to do their part. Everybody's got to chip in. That's fair. You learn it in kindergarten,” he said. “The problem is not that we don't have answers. The problem is, is that folks are playing political games.”

The president, who is set to go on vacation himself later this month, also addressed the criticism he’s received for not calling Congress back from its August recess to focus on the economy.

Instead of “spending more time arguing in D.C.,” the president, who is about to embark on a three day Midwest bus tour, said, not surprisingly, that “they need to spend more time out here listening to you and hearing how fed up you are. That's why I'm here.”

Week 9

The U.S. Postal Service is considering cutting as many as 120,000 jobs! After facing a year of losses totaling to around $8 billion dollars, the agency wants to take out its workers from health benefit plans, as well as retirement plans. In order to do this, congress needs to approve of these plans. Over the past four years, the postal office has cut 110,00 jobs! Many things are contributing to the post office recession. For example, the internet. Many people use the internet to contact each other, rather than my mail. Post officials need to make a $5.5 billion payment to cover future employee health care costs, which is due by September 3oth. If congress doesn't act soon, the post office will not be able to make the payment by the due date.

Republican Presidential Blogging Debate

The six contenders had debated for the whole night now, but only two are left standing which are bachmann and pawlenty. The contenders had been taking their campaign in Ames, Iowa, but now they are taking it nationally. Both contenders are currently discussing about repealing the obama health care. They also are discussing about the amendments specifically the tenth amendment which"runs amock" for gay marriage. This is happening currently.

Week 8 and 9:Facebook Kid Users, Massive Heat Wave in Texas with Water Shut Down

Last week I was at a camp with no Internet access to Blogger! So I am making this work up for last week. I'm not making the story up but I am well...I think you know what I mean.To cover up last week's story, I am writing about how Facebook kid users do worse in school. Facebook make kids more depressed and unhealthy due to scientific reasearch. This social-media site can also hobble learning. "Reasearch has found that students in middle school, high school, and college who checked Facebook at least once during a 15- minute study period got lower grades." Bonnie Rockman says from CNN.

Second of all, there is a massive heat wave in Texas and the government is also shutting down the water because of lack and shortage of water supply for citizens. Temperatures average about 95 degrees in Dallas, Texas. This heat wave has resulted into the 4th warmest July on record for the US.

*Week 9 Topics & Prompt*

Hi guys,

This week I'd like you each to find an American news story and write about it. I'm NOT talking about a trivial "oh this is funny or odd or interesting" story, but a story that actually matters and is about US politics. This Ameri-centric week calls for American topics, and they are:

THW abolish the death penalty.
THW not place restrictions on a woman's right to choose.
THW allow all stem cell research, including but not limited to the harvesting of stem cells.

Good luck!

National Oyster Day

August 5 is National Oyster Day...YAY... Oysters to me personally, taste like crap. It is heard to be said that oysters on the east coast, their meat is thinner and flatter which..i suppose is better than fatter meat. So i suppose if you want to try the best oysters in your life, go to the east coast. Many people have said that their meat is creamier too and i do not know how that is possible. OK so the "proper" way to eat oyster is to apply the provided condiments to the "tender" meat. the toppings include horseradish fresh lemon cocktail sauce and migonette. Then after, just eat it with a spoon by scooping it out with the spoon.

How to eat an Oyster(Hehehehe)

http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2011/08/04/55-an-oyster-primer-for-national-oyster-day/?
So on August 5th, it's the official National Oyster Day!!!! So the in celebration, I'm going to teach you people how to PROPERLY eat oysters.Yup, I said it. I'm telling you how to eat a oyster. Ok, so first, pick up the shell. (You might want to spritz a little lemon on or a small amount of cocktail sauce first.) Then sip the liquor and swallow. If you're starting out, ask for small oysters --even after some experience. It's always easier to swallow then chew.Happy eating!

A Big big sculpture

Oliver Voss created the 4meter mermaid sculpture which is in Alster Lake in Hamburg right now. It has nick-names such as "Riesen-Nixe"or "Badenixe". This beautiful beauty will only only be here for a while until August 12. It is sad that this extraordinary sculpture must go but those who see it must be glad they were able to see such a wonderful statue in the water. Most of the people like seeing this beautiful sculpture in the evening where the sun is down with the bright blue sky in the air still with beautiful cities surrounding it and most of all a bridge. This statue came to this wonderful lade on August 3 and will be leaving soon but those who were able to see it were very blessed.

Earth's Moon

Some scientists are saying that Earth may have had two moons in the past. Scientist say that a tiny second moon might have orbited around Earth before slamming into the other one. This piece of information could be the possible reason why the two sides of the moon are not similar. The second moon around Earth would have been 750 miles wide. Because of gravity, the Earth has only been able to see one side of the moon. The other side of the moon was a mystery until 1959 when the Soviet Luna 3 spacecraft first snapped photos of it. The other side of the moon is very different from the side that we see every night. Now, scientists may have found the reason why.

Giant Statue

Oliver Voss recently finished creating a four meter high "Mermaid" Sculpture that was in Germany's Alster Lake. This sculpture was made to stay until this August 12. This sculpture was used to advertise a Miami Ad School. This sculpture also was to show a woman bathing in the lake. As the tourists and citizens in Germany saw this twelve foot master piece, it made the people be curious of the reason to create a lady in a lake. They would also get into boats and ride to be face to face with the sculpture.

The World's Tallest Building Project

The Kingdom Tower, which is to be built in Saudi Arabia, will be at least 3280 feet tall (2/3 of a mile). Prince Alwaleed bin Talal signed a $1.23 billion contract with the Binladen group for the proposed project. The tower will be built in the city of Jeddah. It will take an estimated time of 5 years in order to complete the tower, which is beginning its construction this year. Adrian Smith, the man who designed what is currently the tallest tower that sits in Dubai at 2718 feet, will be designing the Kingdom Tower with his firm. When the tower is completed, it will have 59 elevators and 12 escalaters. That's a BIG tower!!!!!!!!

Terrorism

Terrorism strikes fear into many people around the country or should i saw in the whole world, maybe even on other planets. Recently in Norway, Anders Behring Breivik from somewhere around the world, he also acted alone. The bombing alone cause 2 deaths and more than 20 injuries. This is only one of the many terrorism acts that happens over time. A major terrorist is now dead who is known as Osama BinLaden. He was once the USA's comrade but then he ditched us because we ditched him. I think terrorists should be gone.

Week 7 : Terrorism

Terrorism is a huge problem to this world. All terrorist do is things that can harm people. I feel like those terrorist feel that the only way they can express their anger is by harming other people. Terrorist attacks are usually bomb attacks but sometimes they'll use something else. For example the 9-11 attack the terrorists hijacked 4 planes and used 2 of them to crash into the Twin Towers of the Word Trade Center. That attack killed all the passengers on the 2 planes and thousands who worked in the Twin Towers died due to this attack. Even thought that attack was a long time ago people will never forgot what happened at 9-11. Terrorism is very bad all they do is cause pain to people (mostly civilians). I feel like to world should come together and end terrorism.

Terrorism

Terrorism can be found in many places all around the continent. There bombings and terrorism in the U.S, Norway, and other places around the world. I believe that terrorism is an act of getting revenge back on people who did harm to your close ones. The norway attack was a devastation to many people because they lost some one really close to them. Terrorism is not a good way to give back to the people that already died. We see bombing every where due to the fact that others are doing bad deeds all over the world. This is what I believe in terrorism.

Terrorist

Terrorist Terrorist Terrorist all u do is harm people . I belive terrorist should not be doing what they are doing, because all they do is hurt people which is really bad and hurtful. Some of these people are forced to do this stuff because if they dont they will die or their family will go into great debt. Even so i understand you must do this but it is still very sad that they are forced to do this sad stuff. Some do it for revenge, revenge will never solve anything in life so they really should stop hurting other innocent people who deserve their chances to live. I really do wish that terrorist attacking would stop because if u have lived your life and u think that the world sucks that dosent mean u get to go and ruin others either.

Terrism

Terrorism has become a major promlem in the world. I feel that terrism is the work of men who feel that violence is the only solution. Terrism is usually motivated when people are angered by the actions of others. Terrism is commonly found in the middle east, near places like Syria, Iraq, and etc. One of the reasons it occurs more often over there is because these nations are constantly arguing. Another target has been the U.S. Even though we havent been the target of a terriost attack in years, the shock of the infamous 9-11 still lives on today. Terriosm causes pain and suffering to others just because of revenge. It's so sad to see the world in this terrible shape.

AH! TERRORISM!!

I think that they are just very violent bullies that take out their anger and hatred on innocent people. Some people they kill innocent people because of their religion. For example, some people say that you have to kill someone in order to go to heaven. Some places we see terrorism are in Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, and Iran because they always fight against each other for religion purposes. It makes me sad to think that they would harm a lot of other random citizens just so they could go to get revenge or something like that.
